Althorpe & Keadby Primary School

  1. Our Curriculum - A School of Adventures
  2. P.E

P.E

At Althorpe and Keadby Primary School we use the Primary Steps in PE scheme of work which we adapted in 2020 with the support of Owen Denovan (Primary Steps in PE)

The adaptations were made, in line with the National Curriculum, as we wanted to ensure that all of our pupils were challenged, worked hard and left their PE lessons ‘buzzing’ and sweaty.

It is also important to our school that all pupils have the skill set and mindset ready for competition.

Each class has two hours of timetabled PE per week.

1 hour inside - gymnastics, dance or indoor athletics

1 hour outside - games. Athletics or OAA

See the PE overview and PE strand progression maps on the 'our PE curriculum' page to find out more

Further school sport and physical activity happens each day as outlined below;

  • 10 minutes of whole school physical activity (see the daily exercise page for more information)
  • Specialist groups DYP (Do Yourself Proud) groups, elite running group and elite activity groups
  • After school sports clubs (changed on a termly basis)
  • Active playtime and lunchtime
